Meet the Movement Bringing Music Back to Miami’s Youth

Young Musicians Unite (YMU) is a nonprofit in the heart of Miami, bringing high-quality music education to underserved children. In a world where arts funding is often the first to go, that’s where YMU steps in. The organization gives students access to instruments, expert instruction, and meaningful musical experiences — both during the school day and through after-school programming that many children might never otherwise experience. These programs don’t just teach music — they build confidence, foster community, and open doors to future opportunities.

Since 2013, YMU has served roughly 40,000 students, partnering with 75 schools and reaching 441 classrooms each year. Supporting a student costs just $540 annually, a small investment with life-changing returns.

Anyone who has attended a YMU performance knows this is far from a standard recital. The energy is electric — more like discovering the next breakout talent on American Idol than a school stage. Many alumni have gone on to earn scholarships at Berklee College of Music and The Juilliard School, building thriving careers in the performing arts and entertainment industries.

This Sunday, YMU brings its mission to life at the Padel Tournament & Social, proudly supported by Capelle Miami. The event blends padel, yoga, and social connection — all while supporting music education for the next generation. Capelle Miami will be a featured vendor, celebrating movement, style, and impact alongside the community. If you’re local to Miami, come play, stretch, or simply show up in support of young talent.

CEO and Founder Sammy Gonzalez Zeira sums it up:

“I started Young Musicians Unite because I saw how powerfully music can change a child’s trajectory, and events like our Padel Social turn community connection into real opportunity by directly funding the teachers, instruments, and programs that keep thousands of students engaged and inspired.”

We hope to see you in your Capelle Miami outfit this Sunday.
